A one-day workshop at the Institut Henri Poincaré (IHP) Paris.
A workshop devoted to current investigations related to two topics that have been initiated by Louis de Broglie: the theory of the double solution on the one hand, pilot waves and quantum trajectories on the other.
The morning session will deal with ongoing work on double solution related ideas in quantum theory and quantum trajectories. The afternoon session will deal with a classical analogy of wave-particle duality. This session will be dedicated to the memory of Yves Couder.
Session and round-table dedicated to the memory of Yves Couder
The afternoon session will be dedicated to the memory of Yves Couder, who passed away earlier this year. Yves was a pioneer in the investigation of walking droplets, a hydrodynamic analog of quantum mechanical wave-particle duality.
The session will explore current work on wave-particle duality in hydrodynamics and possible connections with the theory of the double solution. These connections as well as Yves Couder's contributions will be further discussed in a round table.
Organization & Practical Information
The workshop will take place on 4 Nov 2019 at the Institut Henri Poincaré (Amphiteâtre Hermite) in central Paris.
Attendance is free but places are limited. Registration is mandatory (please register by clicking the "Registration" item on the left column).
The workshop is organized by Thomas Durt (Institut Fresnel, Ecole Centrale de Marseille, Marseille), Alex Matzkin (Lab. de Physique Théorique et Modélisation, CNRS/Univ. Cergy Pontoise) and Jacques Robert (Lab. Physique des Gaz et Plasmas, CNRS/Univ. Paris-Sud).
